How to Promote Affiliate Programs
What is the best affiliate program to promote? This is probably one of the largest questions asked by both newcomers and seasoned affiliate marketers. It is common knowledge that 80% of your income comes from 20% of your efforts. Finding the right affiliate program to promote can mean success or failure.
If you have thoroughly reviewed your niche, are sure of your keyword phrases, and know that you have found a possible winner, it is time to look for the product. One of the barriers to success is picking a product that many successful affiliate marketers are promoting. It is not just a simple matter of going to Clickbank and taking what is hot. If it were that easy, we would all be millionaires.
How do we resolve this dilemma? The first thing you want to do is determine what other affiliates are promoting. This can be determined by doing a Google search on your top keyword phrase, and checking the pay per click advertisements to the right. Make note of who is promoting what. The idea here is to keep an eye on these results and see how long any particular affiliate is promoting them. If they continue to promote a particular keyword phrase for a week or two, you can bet that they are profitable keyword phrases.
There are of course other parameters. Let's look at a few:
1. Is there a demand for this product?
Remember, we are looking for "need" versus "want." Are you sure you know the people who would be interested in this product? Do they have money to spend? How will you reach these people, and get them to your website?
2. Will this product convert?
Take a look at the sales page of the product that you plan on promoting. Do you think the sales page will convert visitors to buyers? Is the sales page professionally done? Check out the navigation of the site. Is it easy to navigate? Is it easy to place an order? Look at the sales page as if you are a buyer. If it turns you off, or does nothing for you, then you can bet visitors will feel the same way.
3. What is the commission?
This is the most obvious question. You want the commission paid to be high enough so that you are not wasting your time promoting a product with a low commission. Digital products are the best to promote as far as commission goes. Typically, they pay commissions of 50% and up. Physical products, on the other hand, generally only pay 10% or less. This is fine if it is a high ticket item. However, it makes little sense to promote a $ 10 dog leash that pays you a dollar in commission. It's always a good idea to compare other affiliate programs to determine if the commission rate is fair.
4. If you find a hot program to promote, and have any reservations about that product or program, it might be a good idea to pass. Do not promote anything that might harm your online reputation. If it does not sit well with you, you can bet it will not sit well with your visitors.
5. One mistake many new affiliate marketers do is fail to track marketing efforts. This is especially true in pay per click campaigns. Tracking the number of visitors you sent to each site and the number of sales you make from that promotion gives you a good idea of what to keep and what to dump. You must focus your efforts on the programs that are making you money.
Although Affiliate Marketing is not hard, there are certain things you must learn, and learn to do well. If you need to know what is the best affiliate program to promote [http://www.squidoo.com/wealthyaffiliateschool], visit our website today.
